Unemployment in the Czech Republic rose to 3.7 percent in December last year, while it was 3.5 percent in November. There were 279,227 people looking for work, an increase of 16,000. The current figures were published today by the Czech Statistical Office.
Last December, job vacancies fell by 7,000 to a total of 271,789. For the first time since January 2023, there were more registered job seekers than vacancies.
"The volatility of the monthly data somewhat obscures the trends of the last six months, when the employment rate for both men and women is no longer growing, which corresponds to economic development," said Dalibor Holý, director of the Department of Labor Market Statistics and Equal Opportunities of the CZSO, regarding the current figures.
Unemployment thus rose to 3.7 percent in December last year, while it was 3.5 percent in November 2023. There were 279,227 people looking for work, an increase of 16,000.
