Ukrainian refugees no longer need to obtain a work permit

From Monday, March 21, refugees from Ukraine no longer need to obtain a special work permit for employment. This formality is canceled by a new law, the so-called lex Ukrajina, which came into force today.

From now on, refugees, after applying for a special visa vízum strpění, can immediately get a job - without contacting the Employment Center (Úřad práce ČR) and additional formalities.

In addition, from today, refugees from Ukraine can apply for a humanitarian allowance in the amount of 5,000 kroons per month.

Note that foreigners from third countries (non-EU) to work in the Czech Republic usually require labor blue cards or a work permit. Free access to the labor market for most of these migrants appears only after obtaining permanent residence. According to the new law, refugees from Ukraine with a vízum strpění visa have the same status as foreigners with permanent residence. They do not need to apply for a work permit and are also automatically included in the public health insurance system.
