On Sunday, May 18, as part of the International Museum Day, some Prague museums can be visited free of charge.

On this day, from 10:00 to 20:00, it will be possible to visit four branches and expositions of the National Gallery. Exhibitions will be open for tourists and residents of the country: Staří Mistři I (Schwarzenberg Palace), Staří Mistři II (Sternberg Palace), Středověké umění v Čechách a střední Evropa 1200–1550 (Monastery of St. Anezka Czech), 1796–1918 : Umění dlouhého století and 1918–1938: První republika (Veletržní palác).

On May 18, it will be possible to visit the National Agricultural Museum, the National Museum and the Museum of the City of Prague free of charge.

The National Technical Museum will join the campaign with a reduced entry fee. The ticket price will be 80 crowns, but for this price it will not be possible to see some sights.

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) established International Museum Day in 1977 to raise awareness of the role of museums in the development of society as a whole. Promotions can take place during the day, weekends or the whole week. The purpose of the event is to unite museums under the motto "Museum as an important means of cultural exchange, mutual enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples."
